Awards For Excellence – Marine Trimming interior
Project: Leather Seating
What is the purpose of this project?
To redesign, reupholster and replace all foam in main settee, side settee, two helm seats and manufacture three ottomans. Materials used: Leather, Foam.
The client required more comfortable lounge and helm seating with a new design for the boat. They wanted three ottomans that would fit under the main table with storage inside to overcome some limited space. White leather was the material chosen. They asked for foam that would not soak up or hold water.
What is unique or complex about this project?
The foam was layered in different densities to suit the different seating areas, from firm at the helm, a bit softer for the passengers helm, and very soft for the lounge and starboard 2 seater settee and firm in the mid area of the eating area around the table. A combination of quick dry foam and EVA foam was used. They also asked if we could create a ruffled effect in some areas.
Was there anything different or special about this project?
The three ottomans were designed and built from scratch with hinging lids for storage inside. they were designed to neatly store under the table.
What were the results of the project?
The owner, and especially his wife, were ecstatic with the project and change from old to new. The fresh clean look was exactly what they were looking for. The ottomans added the storage they required and they fitted exactly where they wanted and were better that they expected.
